Best Street Art in FRANKFURT

A couple of weeks ago, I introduced the 25 best things to do on a weekend trip to Frankfurt am Main, mostly known as Germany’s financial power station. One of the activities I recommended was getting to know the best street art in Frankfurt. Because not only is the city home to some of Germany’s best art museums. It is also a cradle of some of the most amazing urban artists such as Case MaClaim and Hera from the artist duo Herakut. In this post, I’m introducing you to some of Frankfurt’s best urban artists.

Best Street Art in COPENHAGEN: The Open Air Gable Gallery in Nordvest

Copenhagen is an amazing mix: There are waters and greeneries, romantic castles and quirky neighborhoods, the world’s oldest amusement park and exciting contemporary art, luxurious restaurants and communal eateries. Obviously, there is also urban art, and some of the best street art in Copenhagen can be found in the city’s least touristy, residential area of Nordvest.

IF WALLS COULD SPEAK: The Best Street Art Project in Amsterdam

There are dreamy canals and cute house gables. They have some of the most famous art museums and far more bikes than people: All this is Amsterdam, the quaint’n’quirky capital of the Netherlands. But the city is also famous for some of Europe’s most vibrant urban art. Some of the best pieces were created during the street art project If Walls Could Speak in the otherwise uneventful Eastside of Amsterdam.

The Amazing Murals of the Hotel Ruins of Alyko

The secluded cape of Alyko in the southwest of Naxos island is surrounded by the most beautiful coves and beaches. But Alyko is not only famous for its idyllic secluded bays. It has actually a real landmark. Pretty much in the center of the peninsula is a long-abandoned and uncompleted resort. Today, these hotel ruins of Alyko are decorated with murals by street artists from all over the world.

This mural that basically bursts through walls was created by Indonesian street artist Wild Drawing – or in short WD. It is definitely the most famous and most photographed of the works at Alyko’s open-air gallery.

Best Street Art in HAMBURG

Hamburg has always been unique – on many levels. Hence, it’s only logical that much of the best street art in Hamburg is quite different from the murals you get to see in other cities.

Best STREET ART in PALMA de MALLORCA

A couple of weeks ago, I’ve introduced Palma de Mallorca as a beautiful and vibrant city, however, I skipped an essential aspect, namely, the ingenious street art that looks back at a long tradition.

Best Street Art in BERLIN

Probably also due to its everchanging, turbulent history, Berlin is still a bit rough around its edges and this is also reflected in its Street Art scene – which is arguably one of the best in all of Europe if not in the entire world.

Best Street Art in MALAGA

Like in many other cities, too, the best pieces of street art do not welcome you in the busy center of Malaga. You have to venture a couple of kilometers west to the formerly a bit sad district of Soho where now art’n’culture amazes you at every corner – literally.

Málaga is the hometown of Pablo Picasso – and it shows at every corner. This hommage was painted by Miguel Ángel Belinchón aka Belin.

However, this neighborhood – which is by no means comparable to the eponymous district in London’s West End – is not the only spot in Málaga where to find mind-blowing urban art.
