24 hours in MUNICH

Munich, capital of the federal state of Bavaria, stands, of course, for the famous beer and the Oktoberfest and is the epitome of Germany.

Since Munich also has Germany’s second-largest airport – after Frankfurt – chances are that you have a stopover here.

24 hours in LISBON

(Last Update April 2020)

Yet here comes another issue of my 24 hours in…-itineraries. This time we are spending a day in Lisbon.

If you are on your way to one of Portugal’s fantastic beaches or on a road trip through Europe or flying for instance to Cape Verde, chances are that you have to fly TAP. Aaccording to my experience, it is a pretty flighty – no pun intended – airline. Hence you better be prepared for a stopover in Lisbon.

During 24 hours in Lisbon, you certainly won't miss out on the Praca do Comercio
View from the top of Arco da Rua Augusta on the Praça do Comércio.

Obviously, as almost any other city Lisbon has far more to offer than you can squeeze in 24 hours.

24 hours in PARIS

(Updated April 2020)

This is the latest issue of the new category on my blog which is designated to transform a stay like a layover into a short extra-vacation.

The Eiffel Tower is a must-see on 24 hours in Paris
The sun is setting behind the Parisian icon, the Eiffel Tower.

You might think that 24 hours are far too little to explore the “city of lights”.

Of course, you are right, but this applies to almost every popular stopover destination.

However, if you follow my itineraries, you’ll be surprised how much you get to see and experience of the proverbial savoir vivre.

24 hours in ZURICH

(Updated in April 2020)

So here comes an itinerary for a stay up to 24 hours in Zurich. Designed for instance for a layover. Or a very short city break. Or an appetizer for a longer stay.

Zurich is Switzerland’s largest city. Located in the German-speaking part of Switzerland – like the country’s capital Bern – It is mainly known as the rich, expensive financial center.

But the river Limmat, the Zurich lake, and of course the circumjacent mountains make Zurich one of the cities with the highest quality of life. Albeit, at the same time the highest costs of living.

24 hours in FRANKFURT

Frankfurt is Germany’s busiest international airport. This might give travellers the opportunity to explore the city on a layover. Therefore, I’ve put together a perfect itinerary for up to 24 hours in Frankfurt.

This might give you an idea of why Germany’s finance metropolis Frankfurt on Main is also called “Mainhattan”.

This special category on my blog is designated to transform a layover into a short extra-vacation.

Frankfurt has 730,000 inhabitants and is Germany’s fifth-largest city. The financial center is located in the federal country of Hesse, and its Airport is Germany’s aviation hub. Many parks and the long promenades along the river Main as well as a large number of fantastic museums and galleries make it a pleasant destination to be explored on a day trip or for a couple of hours during a layover.
